Into the Wilderness is a three-day introductory backpacking experience designed for junior high adventurers. Set in Rocky Mountain National Park, this trip blends outdoor skills, teamwork, fun, and learning about God in a supportive and encouraging environment.Participants will hike approximately 4 miles into a scenic backcountry campsite and 4 miles back out, carrying essential gear with guidance from experienced leaders. Along the way, they’ll learn backpacking fundamentals, practice Leave No Trace principles, set up camp systems, and grow through games, reflection, and Bible study.Itinerary may shift based on weather, group needs, or conditions.

What should I expect this trip to look like?
  • 3 days / 2 nights backpacking and camping in Rocky Mountain National Park

Are there any experience requirements?

No prior backpacking experience required. Ages 11–14 with a positive attitude and readiness to participate.

Are there any Fitness requirements?

Participants should be prepared to hike about 4 miles with a backpack, carry personal gear (and some shared gear), set up/take down camp, and spend extended time outdoors in variable mountain weather.
